Mobile phone analysis suggests the man suspected of abducting Madeleine McCann was no more than five minutes away when she vanished, a TV documentary claims.
Other new evidence being aired in the programme includes a former online pal of Christian Brueckner saying the German revealed he had paedophile fantasies.
It is claimed he said he wanted to "capture something small and use it for days".
Brueckner, 44 – in jail in Germany for raping a pensioner –wrote from his cell that the idea he abducted Madeleine is as "absurd as starting a nuclear war".
He lived in the Algarve in Portugal when the British youngster vanished from her holiday villa there in 2007 when she was three.
Brueckner's lover at the time, Nicole Fehlinger, 44, says he told her he liked the bodies of pre-pubescent girls.
German prosecutors think he took Madeleine but he denies involvement, and no charges have been brought.
The documentary will be screened in Germany tonight on SAT.1.
