Madeleine McCann's parents break silence after Polish girl is left in tears over DNA results

Madeleine McCann’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann have broken their silence after a woman spend weeks claiming she could be their missing daughter.

It comes after Julie Wendell, who thought she was Madeleine, their daughter, received her long-awaited DNA results.

Julia made international headlines at the end of February after suggesting she could be the youngster due to her unusual body markings and childhood.

The revelation emerged after Julia noted similarities between her appearance and the most famous missing child in the world, Madeleine.

21-year-old Julia Wendell claimed she has the same famous dark mark on her eye as McCann and similar body markings.

She also claimed she can’t remember large chunks of her early childhood, isn’t sure of her age, and has never seen her birth certificate.

In an exclusive interview on Dr Phil, Wendell revealed what else she discovered that made her believe she was Madeleine.

Dr Fia Johannson, who had been representing the Polish national as spokesperson, said the DNA sample she provided was not a match to Maddie, The Daily Record reported. It showed she was almost 100% Polish.

Wendell’s parents in Poland insist she is their biological child and deny she was kidnapped.

Madeleine McCann, who would be 19 years old now, was abducted in 2007 while on vacation with her family in Portugal and is presumed dead.

Kate and Gerry have since shared a statement on their Find Maddie Facebook page after receiving a question on the platform.

A woman asked: "Is there any chance of giving us an update? There has been a lot of media about a girl claiming to be Maddie and DNA being done? Is it possible to let your followers know what is going on [...]?"

The woman continued: “Our thoughts and prayers are always with the McCann family and a safe return of their precious daughter.”

The couple's representatives responded last night, writing: “There isn’t anything to report at this time. If and when there is, it will come from The Metropolitan Police.”

Dr Fia released a statement on Julia's results, which reads: “She is absolutely 100% from Poland. She is a small percentage of Lithuanian and Russian.

"But the test results show she is Polish. Julia had all the birthmarks as Madeleine McCann, which I believe is God and the universe’s way of wanting us to get close to the man who sexually abused her, expose him and his possible ties to the McCann case.”
