Machete-wielding masked raiders demand cash in terrifying Co-op robbery

A gang of masked thieves armed with machetes raided a Co-op store on Thursday evening.

Police say the robbery occurred at a shop on Bolton Road, Adlington, just outside of Horwich, Bolton, at around 9.40pm on February 3.

The suspects, three men all wearing dark clothing, escaped with a quantity of cash from the till.

No arrests have been made but police say their enquiries are ongoing.

T/DI Ellie Gomerson, of Lancashire Police's South CID, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the members of staff involved.

"Although they were left shaken by this robbery, thankfully they were not injured.

“I know the public will be appalled by this incident and I would like to reassure them that we have a dedicated team of officers assigned to this case. We have also increased reassurance patrols in the area as a precaution.

“I am now asking the public to come forward if they have any information or CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage which could assist our investigation.”

Anybody with information is asked to email 4625@lancashire.police.uk or call 101, quoting log 1527 of February 3, 2022.

Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
