Macau aims to open to mainland Chinese tour groups in November for the first time in almost three years, the city's chief executive, Ho Iat Seng, said on Saturday.
The gambling hub has imposed stringent pandemic restrictions, in line with the zero-Covid policies of mainland China. Tight border controls in place since 2020 have had a major impact on its casino industry.
Mainland tour groups are a key source of visitors for the city's casinos.
The territory is also considering a further relaxation of quarantine rules for arrivals, the government said in a statement earlier this week
Health authorities will collect more data to see whether the trend supports a possible further shortening of the quarantine period, the statement said.
