Macarthur extend Davila contract ahead of Western clash

Mexican magician Ulises Davila has given Macarthur's charge towards the A-League Men finals a boost by inking a two-year contract extension.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who is expected to captain his side against Western United on Saturday, has signed a new deal with the Bulls until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Davila has been Macarthur's creative linchpin this season, scoring eight goals and registering four assists.

"I'm very happy, to be honest," Davila said in a statement.

"I feel this club, this place is like my home.

"I'm happy to stay here and spend more time with this club and play with them.

"It was just so easy to say yes to stay here longer, trying to achieve big things with the club, and really help all the young players that are coming."

Davila will hope to do that over the next month as Macarthur look set to rebound from last year's wooden spoon with a return to the finals.

"I think we are all very happy to have Uli re-sign. I think we all know what it means to the club," said Macarthur head coach Mile Sterjovski.

"We are pleased to have him and we're looking forward to having more success together with him."

Heading into their round 23 meeting with four games left in the regular season, the Bulls remain in the hunt for a spot in the top two, although a top-four finish seems a more achievable prospect.

Macarthur are undefeated in their past four games against struggling Western, who will host their first ALM game at their new home ground in Tarneit.

The meeting with Western will be the Bulls' last game with Davila's understudy Jake Hollman, who has become an integral player for Macarthur this campaign but is set to be away on Olyroos duty for the rest of the regular season.
