Mac Pro release date: Apple reveals when its most powerful, most expensive computer will go on sale

Apple has finally revealed when people will be able to buy its new Mac Pro.

After more than a year of waiting, the company will finally allow people to buy its highest-end computer, which has gone without an update since 2013.

The computer starts at $5,999, and is expected to cost much more depending on which upgrades are included. The display costs $4,999 and the stand to hold it up costs $999.

The new release date was confirmed on Apple's website, where users can sign up for notifications about when it goes on sale or when further information is made available.

There is still plenty more for Apple to reveal about the computer.

Apple has not said when the computers will actually arrive with those people who order them. The company will presumably announce both of those details when orders open.

It also gave no details on how expensive the upgrades to the Mac Pro will cost. That too will presumably be made clear when Apple's ordering website actually opens.

Apple first announced in 2017 that it was working on a new modular computer aimed at professionals, which would replace the controversial 2013 "trashcan" Mac Pro.

It was finally shown off at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference event earlier this year. But even then it said nothing about when it would actually be available, beyond an indication that it would come "this fall".
