PART of the M8 near Edinburgh Airport had been closed due to a lorry on fire.
Emergency services were called to junction 2, near Newbridge, due to the report of a vehicle fire on Friday morning.
The M8 eastbound was closed at the junction and police urged motorists to find an alternative route.
Traffic Scotland issued a warning at 7.22am regarding the smoke which is affecting visibility.
The road was reopened at around 9am as police thanked motorists for their patience.
There were no reports of any injuries.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said at the time: “The M8 eastbound is currently closed at junction 2 near Newbridge due to a lorry on fire.
“Emergency services are in attendance and motorists are asked to find an alternative route.”
