A HGV caught fire on the M6 northbound this morning, causing part of the motorway to be closed.
The lorry burst into flames at around 7.10am, on Wednesday, October 6, on the Thelwall viaduct between junction 20 and junction 21.
Dramatic images from the scene show Cheshire Fire and Rescue service fighting the fire.

Five fire engines rushed to the scene from Lymm, Birchwood, Warrington, Runcorn and Knutsford.
Other emergency services including Cheshire police and North West motorway police also attended fire.
Motorway police have since confirmed that the driver of the lorry was not harmed and no other injuries have been reported.
While emergency services dealt with the fire, all four lanes of the motorway were closed.

Fire crews, wearing breathing apparatus, fought the fire using three hose reels.
Once the flames were under control, shortly before 9am, police reopened two of the four lanes to allow traffic to move through.
Drivers were asked to travel no faster than 30mph past the scene while fire crews continued to damped down the lorry.

At around 9.30am the fire was extinguished and the recovery vehicle was in place to start removing the contents of the lorry.
Images from the scene show that the HGV appears to have been carrying waffles.
Two lanes remain closed as recovery work takes place at J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston).

Traffic remains heavy in the area, with delays of more than an hour above average journey time being reported.
Congestion stretches back before J19 ( Knutsford ) and traffic is also slowing to look on the opposite side, causing delays back to J22 (Newton Le Willows).
Also seeing delays through Warrington as traffic seeks alternative routes.
