The M6 is closed and there are eight miles of queues after a lorry burst into flames.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the M6 northbound between junctions 21 (Woolston) and 21A (Croft) at 6.09pm on Thursday, May 11, following reports of a vehicle fire. Once three fire engines arrived at the scene at 6.22pm they found a lorry trailer was well alight.
The driver of the lorry had managed to disconnect the cab from the trailer himself. Firefighters from Birchwood, Lymm and Warrington have been working for the last hour to put out the flames.

The M6 northbound is completely closed while emergency services deal with the incident and there are delays of 45 minutes. There is currently eight miles of traffic queuing on the motorway.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were mobilised to the incident at 18.09pm and arrived at round 18.22pm. The fire concerns the trailer of the lorry and the driver of the lorry was able to disconnect the cab from the trailer.
"Crews are now dampening down the lorry trailer and monitoring for hot spots."
An update from National Highways said: "Traffic is held on the M6 northbound within J22 near Winwick due to a lorry fire. Delays of 45 minutes above normal on the approach; 8 miles of congestion, back past the M56."
