Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash on the M50 earlier this afternoon.
The M50 northbound is expected to be closed for hours as officers carry out investigations on the incident.
The section of the motorway between Junction 9 and 7 has been closed since the crash and rush hour traffic is building across the city.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the route if possible.
The "thoughts and prayers" of M50 Dublin are with those involved in the crash.
Ambulances, fire engines and garda officers rushed to the scene of the crash the crash which happened at around 2pm this afternoon.
A spokesperson said: "Due to a fatal road traffic collision on the M50 Northbound shortly before 2pm today, the motorway remains closed between Junction 9 and Junction 7 with diversions in place as Gardaí investigate the incident.
"Gardaí are advising all road users to avoid the area if possible as traffic is currently extremely congested.
"Gardaí are also advising all road users on the N7, intending on travelling on the M50 Northbound to avoid the area or take alternative routes if possible.
"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the M50 Northbound before Junction 9 prior to the road being closed or to any road users who may have passed the scene to please make this footage available to Gardaí."

The crash has caused other routes to become backed up with traffic congestion at 129%, according to the Tom Tom Traffic Index.
There are 494 jams across the city which amounts to over 300km of tail backs.
