A man has died following a crash on the M4 this morning (February 20). Emergency services were called to a 'serious collision' on the westbound carriageway at around 1am.
The crash, involving a pedestrian and a car, happened near to Leigh Delamere services, between junction 17 for Chippenham and junction 18 for Bath. Wiltshire Police confirmed that a pedestrian, a man in his 40s, died at the scene of the collision.
The force say that the man's family has been told and are being supported by specialist trained officers. The driver involved stopped at the scene and is helping police.

The westbound carriageway remains closed as collision investigators carry out enquiries. Police say they expected the route to remain closed for a couple more hours.
