M4 and M48 traffic LIVE after caravan overturns on Severn Bridge

Traffic is at a standstill on the M48 Severn Bridge this morning (Monday, August 8) after a crash involving a caravan. Queues are now building on the busy bridge, which links South Gloucestershire to South Wales, and motorists have been advised to divert to the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge instead.

National Highways tweeted shortly before 10.30am: "Traffic has been STOPPED on the #M48 #SevernBridge eastbound between J2 (#Chepstow) and J1 (#Aust) due to an overturned caravan.

"Emergency services are in attendance and congestion is building on approach. Please use the #M4 bridge if you can."
