M25 crash: Two rushed to hospital after major collision between three lorries and van sparks 20-mile tailbacks

Two people have been rushed to hospital after a major crash involving three lorries and a van caused severe disruption on the M25.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the multi-vehicle collision occurred near Junction 28 for Brentwood on Thursday morning, forcing lane closures in both directions.

Two people from the van were rushed to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The crash has triggered severe delays, with congestion stretching back to Junction 27. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reports queues up to 20 miles long.

A full road closure lasted over an hour until 8.10 am. At 10.45am, two lanes remained shut clockwise, while the anticlockwise carriageway was still completely closed.

Long queues also formed on the M11, with a broken-down lorry near Junction 28 adding to the traffic woes before being moved to the hard shoulder.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes as delays are expected to continue.

Paramedics, including the air ambulance, were sent to the scene by the East of England Ambulance Service.

"One person was taken to Queen's Hospital by land ambulance and one person was taken to The Royal London Hospital for integrated medicine by land ambulance for further care," the service added.
