This is the exact diversion motorists are advised take to avoid closures on the M1 following a serious crash.
The incident happened between Junction 26 for the A610 (Nottingham / Eastwood) and Junction 25 for the A52 Brian Clough Way (Nottingham / Derby).
It is believed the crash involved two vans and a lorry.
Highways bosses said the motorway had been closed in both directions shortly before 3am on Thursday, January 20.
Significant delays have been reported on both sides of the closure.
A lane on the southbound carriageway between junctions 28 and 29 was also closed earlier due to a separate two-car crash, prompting even further delays as a result.
This incident has since been cleared, but the closures amid the junction 26 incident remain in place.
National Highways says motorists should follow the route marked with a solid diamond symbol on local road signs and the diversion is as follows:
- Exit at J26 and at the roundabout take the first exit on to the A640 eastbound.
- The roundabout with the A6002 take the fourth exit.
- Follow the A6002 southbound to the mini-roundabout with the A6007 near Bramcote Hills Park.
- Turn left on to the A6007 eastbound to the Bramcote Island roundabout with the A52.
- Take the third exit from the roundabout on to the A52 Brian Clough Way.
- Remain on the A52 to J25 of the M1 roundabout. Take the second exit to re-join the M1 southbound.
National Highways Duty Operations Manager for the East Midlands Matthew Catto said: "Due to the volume of traffic we would normally expect on the M1 during the morning rush hour we expect severe delays in the area and also on local roads as people follow the diversion.
"We advise road users to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time.”
Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit added: "Long delays on surrounding roads as M1 Southbound J26 to J25 closed due to serious collision.
"M1 J28 leading to A38, the A52 and the A61 all very busy as a result."
