Marks and Spencer will close its stores on Boxing Day so its staff can spend more time with family and friends this Christmas.
The posh supermarket has also extended its opening hours in the run up to Christmas.
M&S has confirmed 300 of its stores will open until 11pm from 19 to 23 December this year.
M&S stores director Helen Milford said: “Our teams really step up over the festive period to help make Christmas special for our customers, including working extra hours so we can keep our store doors open for longer.”
“It’s a busy time for retail so giving our colleagues Boxing Day off is a small thank you for their hard work delivering a remarkable Christmas for our customers.”
The news comes after M&S launched its “12 Days of Sparkle” campaign, giving customers who use its app and website a range of freebies and discounts.
The giveaway works like an advent calendar, in that customers have to open a new door each day to reveal a prize or discount.
Some of the freebies include a light-up gin globe, shortbread trees, mince pies, Percy Pig lights and tea light-up tins.
Offers include 20% off Christmas prosecco, 20% off chocolate corn wreath, 20% off online flowers and 15% off knitwear.
Customers who open every door will be rewarded with an M&S App exclusive golden reward on December 13.
Customers have 24 hours to unlock each reward on M&S.com, and 48 hours on the M&S app.
Rewards are automatically activated by opening the door. Each prize will have its own "use by" date - so make a note in your diary so you don't miss out.
Danielle Papagapiou, Head of Loyalty at M&S said: “12 Days of Sparks is even bigger and better this year, with thousands of personalised offers and free festive treats for our customers and even a holiday to win.
"Sparks is our way of saying thank you to our M&S customers and that’s exactly what we’re doing this Christmas.
"Download the M&S App, sign up to Sparks and unlock exclusive offers and rewards every day until 12 December.”
It marks the second year M&S has run its "12 Days of Sparkle" campign.
