M&S shoppers spot £45 'to-die-for-bag' that's a dupe of £400 Loewe version

M&S shoppers have spotted a 'dream' £45 beach bag which they say is a dupe of a £400 version from the Spanish designer Loewe.

The high-street retailer has become popular over recent months for selling more affordable versions of much-loved items from designer brands, giving those with a smaller budget the chance to show off a very similar look.

The M&S £35 Faux Leather Cross Body Bag went viral last year for being an almost perfect match to the £2,550 Celine crossbody, both bags donned a distinct leather flap and gold buckle. Its own brand fragrances like 'Midnight Blossom' (£9.50) have also been compared to designer bottles that go for around £100, like Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium.

Now, one of the latest pieces to launch in M&S' 2023 spring and summer range has been highlighted by shoppers as being a 'good copy' of a handful of expensive designer brands, including Loewe.

M&S's new £45 Straw Striped Tote Bag is trending on the retailers' site, with 40 sales in the last two days and more than 14 reviews comparing it to well-known designers. Branded as being a 'to-die-for' the bag, the product has been praised for having a high-end quality feel and finish.

One shopper said: "This is a bag of dreams. I love this bag, it's giving Loewe/Jacquemus beach bag vibes."

Another shopper compared it to the distinct Leowe style, and said: "I ordered the tan version. It's a good quality bag with an inside secure pouch.

"I think for the price it could have had leather detailing but it looks expensive and stylish. Purchased as a dupe of the Loewe bag."

The bag has been released in three different colours: a 'Pink Mix', 'White Mix' and 'Natural', with the natural colour proving to be the most popular out of the options, and most similar to the Loewe version.

Another buyer said: "Absolutely love this bag, cute bag for the summer. The finish on the bag is very good, overall a good copy of a well-known high-end designer bag, but for a fraction of the price definitely a win-win situation. I prefer this design to last year’s model."

The Loewe version, 'The Basket Bag in Palmleaf and Calfskin', retails for £425 and is handwoven with real leather 'calfskin' handles and its distinct branded logo.

As one of its signature items the designer has released a handful of styles in an array of summer colours; 'Light Blue', 'Dark Yellow' and 'White'. The designer has become well-known for its 'Basket Bags' which are popular with beachgoers.
