M&S shoppers rave about £10 perfume dupes of Black Opium, Chanel No.5 and more

With Mother's Day just around the corner, many sons and daughters will want to surprise their beloved mum with a gift as a token of appreciation.

But with an ongoing cost of living crisis, many will no doubt have to be wary of their expenditure - swapping out designer products for bargain presents instead.

And while perfume is one of the more expensive luxury items that people will gift their mum come March 19, there's a way to get a similar scent without splashing far too much cash.

The Mirror reports that Marks and Spencer shoppers have been rushing to get their hands on bargain perfumes that smell just like designer fragrances - and they cost only £9.50. The posh supermarket's inexpensive eau de toilettes are available both in stores and online at marksandspencer.com.

Unsurprisingly, TikTok users have already caught wind of the new fragrance dupes, with many raving about how they smell incredibly similar to popular perfumes. There are nine scents to choose from in the range, including a £9.50 bottle which has been compared to YSL's £82 Black Opium.

They make the perfect Mother's Day gifts to snap up ahead of the big day. Whether you're after something fruity or musky, the affordable M&S fragrance collection is certainly worth knowing about.

Fans of Black Opium will be pleased to hear that the retailer is doing a dupe of the much-loved YSL scent - called Midnight Blossom (£9.50). It would usually set you back £82 to buy the designer perfume on the Boots website, meaning M&S's version will make you a hefty saving.

Another scent to have on your radar is the Velvet Rose Eau De Toilette, which is said to smell like the £126 Chanel No. 5 perfume. It will cost you just £9.50 for a 100ml bottle. On the M&S website, one happy reviewer wrote: "Smells similar to Chanel No 5 lovely perfume good value".

Our final top pick is the £9.50 Warm Neroli Eau De Toilette that has been compared to Paco Rabanne's £90 Lady Million. In a five-star review, a customer said: "Gorgeous perfume. Light and fresh scent. Just like lady million but a fraction of the cost. My new favourite perfume."

While another, added: "Beautiful fragrance that lasts hours. Absolute bargain too at under £10. Smells very similar to Lady Million which is far more than this price. Loved it that much I bought some for my sister who loves it too."
