M&S shoppers race to buy new LIMITED EDITION Coronation food box

King Charles' Coronation is only a few months away and M&S is preparing for our monarch's big day by releasing a limited edition food box. The popular supermarket has two 'stunning' items on offer - a commemorative biscuit tin and a commemorative tea tin.

They both come in two colours, a deep plum purple and a white, and each boasts a regal design in gold lettering. The tins went on sale in stores yesterday and they’re expected already flying off the shelves.

Posting on social media, an M&S spokesperson said: "Starting at just £5, and available in two gorgeous colours, the ULTIMATE collectable tins are filled with Fairtrade English Breakfast tea or DELICIOUS All-butter Shortbread. Boasting a STUNNING regal design, the tins make the perfect addition to Coronation celebrations, or the most gorgeous gift for friends and family, marking this special moment in UK history. The countdown to the big day starts now!"

The 450g biscuit tin costing £6 is described as: “These beautiful Biscuit Tins are filled with our, exclusive to M&S, traditional all butter shortbread biscuits, baked in Edinburgh, Scotland. The ideal sweet treat for your afternoon tea or street party!”

While the commemorative tea tin costs less at £5 for 200g, it was said to be the ‘perfect partner’ for their shortbread biscuits: “Our gorgeous Tea Tins are filled with 80 of our well-loved Fairtrade English Breakfast tea bags. The perfect partner to our delicious shortbread biscuit tin.”

Under the post, shoppers were quick to react. One person wrote: "We need these", another said: " I want to be one of those granny’s that have a biscuit tin from a royal event".

Asda is also selling Coronation clothing in preparation for the big day on May 6. T-shirts will set you back between £6 to £11.
