M&S launches school uniform summer sale as parents gear up for next year

It’s that time of the summer when parents start to try to estimate how much their child will grow before the next term starts. And they’re going to have to be accurate as Marks & Spencer has now started off a 20 per cent off sale for all uniforms.

Parents going online to M&S or into a store you can get 20% off school uniform while stocks last. No voucher is needed, the 20% is automatically applied.

There is also Free Click & Collect with deliveries costing£3.50 or free if you’re spending over £50. To look at the ranges click here.

Prices change depending on size. The offer excludes footwear, underwear, outerwear, hosiery, accessories, school bags and lunch boxes. While stocks last.

The offer was voted one of the top ones today on website Hot UK Deals and Haircut_100 revealed: “This also applies to the school uniforms in their outlet stores as well.” Potterified asked: “Does anyone know if we’ve already bought some school uniforms from them last week, will they refund the 20%?” And the reply from danvman2 was: “Return and buy again.”

Parents and carers of children in secondary school are still spending “exorbitant amounts” on school uniforms, a charity has said. According to research conducted by The Children’s Society, which surveyed 2,000 parents across the UK in May, on average they are spending £422 per year on uniforms and £287 for primary school children.

The survey found that on average pupils were expected to have three branded items, with 29% of secondary school pupils expected to own up to five branded items including PE kits, and 13% expected to have at least seven.
