One of the great things about the Easter season is tucking into hot cross buns. Marks & Spencer and other food retailers stock a range of hot cross bun options each year as they try to offer something for everyone.
But many M&S shoppers have been left disappointed after discovering some of their favourites aren't returning this Easter. That is despite the store offering "more options than ever" this year, including banoffee, Kentish Bramley and extremely cheesy hot cross buns.
A recently post on the official Marks and Spencer account on Facebook featured a photo of a range of the spiced sweet buns. It read: "Our famous hot cross buns are back in store, and there are more options than EVER! Which would you choose?"

The listed options were: Luxury fruited hot cross buns, Banoffee hot cross buns, Extremely cheesy hot cross buns, Kentish bramley apple hot cross buns, Plant Kitchen vegan hot cross buns and Made Without Wheat gluten-free hot cross bun. However, fans were quick to notice past favourites like salted caramel, Marmite, and cheese and chill were missing.
Many of the comments on the post were about past varieties, with some asking why they hadn't been brought back. Dawn wrote: "What’s happened to the salted caramel ones, they were amazing!"
Sue commented: "Where's the Marmite??" and Louise asked: "The chocolate ones and the salted caramel (or was it toffee fudge) were amazing! Are they coming back too?" Alli added: "Wish the cheese & chilli variety were still available".
Sally posted: "Where’s the cheese and marmite?!!!" and Emma commented: "No blonde/salted caramel ones. I’ve had to buy them elsewhere." Victoria asked: "Are the cheese and chilli ones coming back at all? X"
Maryna wrote: "No salted caramel ones this year?! They were amazing". And Marguerite added: "Salted caramel and golden blonde were delicious last year". Kate asked: "Are you doing the cheese and chilli ones again? They’re delicious."
The M&S account responded to many of the comments, confirming that the flavours in question wasn't returning this year. In some cases, alternate ways to eat hot cross buns from this year's range were suggested.
