M&S has recently closed two more of its stores and more sites are set to shut over the coming months.
The upmarket retailer's Newport Road store in Cardiff has now closed for good after the supermarket chain announced the site would close sometime in the spring earlier this year.
M&S told the Mirror that the closure of the Cardiff site fell under its "store rotation and investment programme" and the decision was taken to ensure it could "invest" in other local stores.
Staff working at the Cardiff food hall site were offered roles in other stores nearby.
The chain's Deansgate store in Bolton also closed recently on April 15.
An M&S spokesperson told the Mirror: “We recently announced that we are investing £480million in bigger, better stores across the UK.
“Whilst our store rotation programme involves closing some stores, it also means relocating and opening new stores in locations across the country.
"In this coming year alone, we are opening 20 new stores across the UK, including brand new M&S stores in Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Thurrock and Purley, and new M&S Foodhalls in locations such as Stockport, Wrexham, Barnsley and Largs.”
M&S is currently in the midst of its plan to close 67 of its larger "full line" stores over the next five years.
The supermarket chain wants to reduce its "full line" stores, which are those with both home and clothing ranges, from 247 to 180, while increasing its food-only sites from 316 to 420.
The upmarket retailer announced last year it was going to close the Cardiff store as part of a business overhaul and several other sites have already shut since the start of the year.
M&S has closed eight stores, so far and has one more planned to shut down going forward - the retailer hasn’t confirmed the date for other site closure yet.
The next closure will be the M&S Eagles Meadow store in Wrexham which is planned to close at sometime in the autumn.
