Marks & Spencer customers have complained that they are not getting the present they want from the 12 Days of Sparks advent calendar promotion. The special event, which lasts until December 12, means that anyone with the M&S App who signs up for the Sparks card can get a free item every day.
The free gifts include a gin globe, all butter mini shortbread trees, mince pies, Percy Pig lights and tea light-up tins - but some people have been underwhelmed after getting satsumas, money off vouchers and robin tree decorations. Some shoppers have slammed M&S for what they’ve found inside the virtual advent calendar.
Katrine Cassidy said: “I got satsumas so think I’ll find mine no prob.” Emily Harris complained: “Mine’s just a handcream for the first day.” Nikki Wadsworth said: “I got a Robin xmas Dec would of liked the gin lol.”

To qualify, people just need to download the M&S App and sign up to Sparks - and they will get a new, free item every day that they can pick up from a store. There is all manner of festive fun being dished out and people don’t get to choose - it’s random, the MEN reports.
MrsMummypennyUK was left bereft: “Share your M&S sparks card 12 days of Christmas freebies. I got mince pies. But @EveK1979 got a bottle of gin!!! Who can beat gin?” emmcls said: “me thrilled with a free bag of Percy pigs on that 12 days of sparks and my sister gets a free bottle of gin.”
tomsmall5 posted a picture of some chocolate coins he’d just won: “Just signed up for an M&S sparks card #scam where is my gin? @marksandspencer.” On the other hand, some lorded it over their friends, as Gwladruns wrote: “What a hero @ellieqis, reminding us to check our Sparks app, I got a bottle of gin! My colleague got Percy pig Christmas lights!”
Cheryl Marques Da Silva said: “I got a hand cream, might nip in tomorrow and get the two from today and tomorrow - I don’t fancy a daily trip unless it’s amazing and only claimable that day. I’m dubious about the stock for my local though tbh.” Emma Brimsted replied: “What a flipping disgrace.”
Danielle Papagapiou, Head of Loyalty at M&S said: “12 Days of Sparks is even bigger and better this year, with thousands of personalised offers and free festive treats for our customers and even a holiday to win. Sparks is our way of saying thank you to our M&S customers and that’s exactly what we’re doing this Christmas. Download the M&S App, sign up to Sparks and unlock exclusive offers and rewards every day until 12th December.”
