Lyon vs West Ham prediction and odds: Jarrod Bowen backed to score in France during crucial Europa League tie

David Moyes will be preparing his West Ham's side for what is easily one of their biggest matches in the club's history with a place in the Europa League semi-final. A win in France would see his side progress through and face either Eintracht Frankfurt or Barcelona in the semi-finals if they surpass Lyon.

The Irons are 23/10 with Betfred while Lyon are the favourites at 21/20 and a draw after 90 minutes is 23/10. There was not a lot to split between the two sides but that is pretty good going for Moyes and his side when they had to play the second-half with 10 men.

The Hammers will be dealt the bitter blow with left-back Aaron Cresswell out of the picture as he serves a suspension after being shown a straight red card over his foul on striker Moussa Dembele. Moyes has a number of alternatives including 22-year-old Ben Johnson and Pablo Fornals has played in a wing-back role a number of times this season already.

Lyon may have matched them at the London Stadium last week but on paper they are struggling for form and sit 10th in Ligue 1 picking up just two wins in six matches in all competitions. They are, however, unbeaten in their Europa League campaign with six wins and three draws so far.

Team stats

Both teams in matches involving West Ham have scored in 23 matches from 47 in all competitions including two from nine in the Europa League while for Lyon it is 25 from 40 including five from nine in Europe. No on both teams to score is evens.

West Ham have finished 23 of their matches in all competitions with three or more total goals including two in nine from Europa League while Lyon have finished 18 matches in all competitions this way including four in Europe. Under 2.5 goals is 4/5.

Player to watch

Throughout this season one player has stood out for me for West Ham and that is Jarrod Bowen. The former Hull City player has picked up 25 goal involvements in 42 matches in all competitions including 14 goals with two coming in the Europa League.

He played a vital part in West Ham's first leg match last week by breaking the deadlock before former Spurs man Tanguy Ndombele denied the Irons the chance to take a winning margin to Parc Olympique Lyonnais. His efforts will play a big part if West Ham have a chance of progressing through. He is 3/1 to score anytime.

H2H

This will be only the second time these two sides have met after last week's 1-1 draw at the London Stadium. This will be Lyon's 25th clash against English opposition in all competitions picking up eight wins, nine draws and seven defeats. For West Ham, this will be only the fourth meeting against French opposition.
