Lyon vow to restore Tanguy Ndombele to his best at a club he ‘appreciates’ after Tottenham exit

Lyon have vowed to try and restore Tanguy Ndombele back to his best after sealing a loan move from Tottenham.

Ndombele was perhaps the headline departure on a busy day for Spurs which saw Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso leave the club on a temporary basis for Valencia and Villarreal respectively.

The French international only left the Ligue 1 outfit during the summer of 2019 but endured a difficult time of things in North London and was booed off by sections of the support during his last outing for Spurs in the FA Cup against Morecambe earlier this month.

Seemingly a popular figure amongst the Lyon support, various reports have suggested they have an option to buy the midfielder in the summer for around £54m.

A statement posted on their official website after the move was officially confirmed spoke of their desire to see Ndombele return to the levels of performance that saw him command such a hefty fee in the first place.

“With more than 200 matches to his credit (16 goals), Tanguy Ndombele thus compensates for the departure of Bruno Guimaraes, transferred to Newcastle, with the ambition of getting back to his best at a club he particularly appreciates and with whom he will try to achieve the objectives set out at the start of the season, both in Ligue 1 and in the Europa League.”
