Lynn McPaul's death confirmed as police identify body found in Dundee woodlands

Police in Dundee have confirmed that a body found in woodland last week is that of missing woman Lynn McPaul.

The 45-year-old was last seen near Strawberry Bank in the city's West End on January 23.

Cops launched a high-profile public appeal in a bid to trace her, including issuing photographs of a Nike jacket she had been seen wearing.

Sadly, officers discovered a body on George Pirie Way, near Dundee's Ninewells Hospital, last week.

This morning, the force have confirmed that the body is hers.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the body of a woman found in woodland near to George Pirie Way, Dundee, on Saturday, March 12, has been formally identified as 45-year-old Lynn McPaul.

"Her family have been informed and request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Tributes have been paid to Lynn on social media.

One woman said: "RIP Lynn so sad thoughts are with her family and everyone who knew her."

Another added: "That is awful. Heart goes out to all the family and friends! Rip Lynn."

Lynn’s "bewildered" family had issued a statement soon after she vanished begging her to come home.

They described her as a “home-loving mum, with a tight-knit group of friends.”

They said she “is missed terribly by all her family and friends” and would always “go out of her way to help others.”
