If there is ever a way to truly escape the hustle and bustle of every day life, it is by visiting a spa. From experiencing calming treatments to dipping your toes in infinity pools and Jacuzzis, spa days or breaks can make you feel completely rejuvenated.
If you are wanting to visit a spa then there are a bunch of renowned facilities in and around Greater Manchester that have been voted among the best in the UK. Natura Bissé have just recently revealed their shortlist for the Good Spa Guide Awards 2022, with some of the region's spas featuring in the list of finalists.
The industry event recognises the best spas across the country with categories such as Best Day Spa, Best Spa for Wellness and the Best Destination Spa.

Here are some of the spas situated in Greater Manchester and its surrounding areas that are up for national awards and are well worth treating yourself to a day break or overnight visit.
Best Day Spa
Mottram Hall in Wilmslow has been nominated for the Best Day Spa award. Set within 270 acres of immaculately landscaped gardens, the spa at Mottram Hall includes 15 treatment rooms, two Swimming Pools, saunas, Jacuzzis and steam rooms as well as a state-of-the-art gym.
Also shortlisted for this award is The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall in Preston. Just short of an hours drive from Manchester, Ribby Hall Village's glamorous spa hotel is a thermal space with a large hydrotherapy pool, decked garden, outdoor hot tub and sauna.
Found in Knutsford, Cottons Hotel & Spa is also among the facilities nominated for this award, as well as the Best Boutique Spa award . The perfect setting to relax and unwind, the spa has an expansive luxury pool, giant outdoor hot tub, whirlpool, colour therapy sauna and fibre optic steam room.
Best Hotel Spa
Set within 100 acres of Lancashire countryside, The Woodland Spa in Burnley is up for the Best Hotel Spa award. The Thermal Experience Journey includes a range of heat rooms, plus a hydrotherapy pool, outdoor infinity pool, and a tranquil "serenity pool" in a low-lit relaxation room.
Just over an hours drive away from Manchester in Nantwich is Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa. The elegant hotel is set in picturesque Cheshire parkland and has a glass-roofed heated pool, heat facilities, a rasul, and two dedicated relaxation rooms.
Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool is also nominated in this category. The hotel spa features a 15 metre indoor pool, thermal facilities, seven treatment rooms and a body ice machine.
Best Health Club Spa
The Hale Country Club & Spa has been voted one of the Best Health Club Spas in the awards. Situated in Trafford, the Greater Manchester spa offers a modern setting to relax, unwind and be pampered in where guests can experience a dip in the heated outdoor pools, Finnish Sauna, steam room, herbal room and salt sauna, as well as the infinity wellness pool.
Also nominated in this category is The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford. This elegant resort and spa is a beautiful mix of old and new, with exposed brickwork and bright, modern design featuring a 25-metre pool, vitality pool, a large hammam, aroma stream room, caldarium, salt-inhalation room and sauna.
Aria Spa in Warrington is a luxury, holistic spa using all natural and organic products. Here you can enjoy holistic therapy style treatments before experiencing the rooftop infinity pool, indoor/outdoor swimming pool, herbal steam room and fire and ice room.
Best Spa for Wellness
Nominated as the Best Spa for Wellness is Nàdarra Spa in Skipton, located just over an hour away from Manchester. The award-winning spa sits in a countryside setting and boasts four pools, a thermal suite with saunas, steam room, ice fountain and a private spa garden with two large coppers baths which was newly built in 2021.
Best Spa for Sustainability and the Best Destination Spa
The Spa at Carden Park in Chester has been nominated for Best Spa for Sustainability and the Best Destination Spa in this year's awards. The Spa at Carden has a range of carefully curated treatments using natural botanicals to improve your well-being in the abundant spa facilities.
After your treatment, you can relax in the beautiful and extensive Spa Garden, unwind in one of the themed relaxation rooms, sip Champagne in the beauty bar or enjoy a light meal with stunning views at the spa restaurant.
Best Boutique Spa
Found in the heart of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley, The Spa at Stanley House offers peaceful views of the area’s countrside whilst you relax in the hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, salt steam room and tepidarium beds. Stanley House is the only spa in the North West to offer treatments from brands Natura Bissé and Temple Spa.
Voting for the awards will open on at 9am on May 16 and end at 5pm on June 6.
