Luxury Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana has opened its first ever combined beauty and accessories store in Covent Garden.

The 850 sq ft shop in the Market Building is the label’s first permanent location in the Covent Garden area, although it has a Christmas pop-up on the Piazza in 2022.

In what is billed a world first for the brand, the boutique includes a selection of cosmetics and fragrance collections - as well as a make-up consultation area - and accessories, including eyewear, under the same roof. The store, sited opposite the junction of James Street, is fitted out with gold panelling and monochrome tiles.

The leasing reinforces Covent Garden as an increasingly important luxury retail destination in central London having previously been known more as mass market tourist draw.

Other luxury beauty and fragrance brands in the area include CHANEL Beauty, Diptyque, Glossier, Guerlain, Miller Harris, Penhaligon’s, Tom Ford Beauty. Charlotte Tilbury, opened a larger flagship, including its world first Skin Spa, in an anchor unit at the beginning of the year.

William Oliver, retail leasing director at Covent Garden landlord Shaftesbury Capital, said: "Dolce & Gabbana's commitment to blending tradition with innovation is what makes Covent Garden the perfect location to debut a world-first concept, following in the footsteps of Chanel, Charlotte Tilbury, Glossier, and Tom Ford.

“Building on the noteworthy success of its pop-up in 2022, the brand has reinvested in the destination, showcasing Covent Garden’s appeal for internationally renowned fashion houses to put down permanent roots.”

The opening of Dolce & Gabbana follows the recent announcement that Alo Yoga is opening at the junction of Neal Street and Earlham Street. More than 50 brands invested in Covent Garden locations covering almost 100,000 sq ft last year.

It is the Dolce & Gabbana’s fourth standalone store in central London. The flagship is on Bond Street with other outlets on Sloane Street and a furnishings Casa store on Brompton Road. There is also a concession in Harrods.

Dolce & Gabbana was founded in 1985 in Legnano by Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The six storey flagship on Old Bond Street opened in 2018.
