Luxury hotel launches Coronation-themed package - but it costs £13k a night

Royal fans with a fair bit of cash to splash can celebrate the Coronation in style.

Hotel Café Royal in London is offering the Crown Jewels Experience, the "ultimate experience of luxury and exclusivity", to celebrate King Charles' accession to the throne.

Once guests have forked out £13,000 for the pleasure, they will be shown to the "opulent two-bedroom Royal Suite" on Regent Street.

It is 302sq/m with large windows overlooking the central London street, three marble bathrooms and golden hued walls.

On the first evening a limousine will ship guests to the Tower of London for an exclusive after-hours tour led by one of the King's Beefeaters.

This will be followed by a champagne reception and private viewing of the Crown Jewels.

A royal expert will be on hand to offer details about the gem collection, which includes the 17th century solid gold St Edward's Crown.

A chauffeur will then drive guests back to the hotel for some shut eye before breakfast is served by a private butler in the morning.

The experience is available from April 1 to October 1, and costs £12,995 per night.

Of course the best time to book the package is over the Coronation weekend of May 6.

The hotel is a few short minutes' walk away from Green Park and Buckingham Palace, making it a convenient spot from which to soak up the festivities.

Those unwilling to splash out half an average annual salary on one night could instead opt for the King Charles III experience, which costs a relatively modest £2,625.

As well as a room at Hotel Café Royal, they will be drive in the Queen Mother's Daimler on a tour of London which will take in Clarence House, St James' Palace and the Guildhall Gallery.

A champagne afternoon tea in the Grill Room and breakfast in the Gallery are also thrown into the mix.

Now that the coronation is just a month and a half away, details of what to expect have been slowly emerging.

It was reported this week that all three of Prince William and Kate Middleton's children will play starring roles in King Charles' coronation, leaked plans show.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will join the monarch and the Queen Consort Camilla as they leave Westminster Abbey at the end of the ceremony on May 6.

The procession back to Buckingham Palace is reportedly set to be a third of the size of that at Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953.

Second-in-line to the throne, George, nine, has long been expected to attend the coronation, though it is not known whether he will have a role to play.

However, it has not been known until now whether Charlotte, seven, would be there, nor Louis, who turns five next month.

Prince Charles was four in 1953 when Elizabeth was crowned, and attended only part of the three-hour-long service.

He sat between the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret and did not take part in any of the processions.

George and Charlotte became the youngest members of the royal family ever to join a funeral procession when they took part in the late Queen's funeral last year - though Louis was considered too young.
