An Edinburgh hotel guest has complained that their city centre stay was ruined by loud music coming from a nightclub in the Old Town.
A TripAdvisor user had said that they loved the location, staff and how comfy their beds were at the Virgin Hotel Edinburgh which is located on Victoria Street. But their issue came when they were trying to sleep between the hours of 11pm and 3am on both the Friday and Saturday during their visit.
They say that they were forced to buy ear plugs due to the noise coming from The Liquid Room nightclub. Unfortunately the ear plugs did not work and this led to a couple of bad nights sleep and a two star review for the hotel.

The unhappy visitor said that the hotel should invest in soundproofing their rooms to make sure that this same issue does not happen again. All in all they seemed to love their stay with Virgin but the noise was too much for them to bear.
On the reviewing site, they said: “This hotel is stunning, the rooms are nice, the beds are very comfortable and the staff are really nice and friendly in our experience. Our stay was sadly let down by the noise from The Liquid Room nightclub behind.
“From 11pm until 3am on both Friday and Saturday we were kept awake due to the noise, this was unbearable, to the point we bought ear plugs to try and drown out the noise but we could still hear it over this noise.
“This is a shame as we loved the hotel and the location is fantastic. I hope they look to improve the sound proofing or something. If you do stay here then you will need ear plugs.”
In response, a manager for the hotel wrote back and asked for the guest to get back in touch so that they could fully investigate the issue. They said: “We appreciate you taking the time to complete a review of Virgin Hotels Edinburgh after your recent stay.
“However it is disheartening to read your comments and disappointment during your stay.
“We of course would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you further and hoping you may have the time to contact our Duty Mangers - in order for us to conduct a more in-depth investigation and also look at ways to improve and ensure highest level of service is provided at all times in the future and most importantly in hope to create another opportunity to welcome you again.
“On a more positive note, we are delighted to read that you loved the hotel and the location. We hope to hear from you soon.”
The Virgin hotel is very highly rated by guests on TripAdvisor with a four and a half star rating out of five. The vast majority of those who have taken the time to share their thoughts on the venue have given it an excellent rating.
One guest wrote: “What a gem of a hotel in Edinburgh. Personable staff and great new rooms (with tech).
“Hotel location was close to great restaurants, sightseeing, shopping, city views. Our room window framed the nearby Castle for a perfect finish to a great day. We will be back.”
Whilst another said: “This hotel was just fab! It was so comfy so fabulous and the staff were so lovely too. Really enjoyed our stay .
“Hotel was so funky and quirky and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Would recommend this in a heartbeat and definitely be back.”
