Luxury cruises provide epic getaways as longer trips begin to make waves

Holidaymakers looking for the perfect tonic to help bounce back from the Covid pandemic are visiting new destinations and ports to provide the perfect leisurely getaway. The popularity of cruising is growing and luxury operator Emerald Cruises has put together a collection of bucket list itineraries to whisk guests away for longer, epic voyages.

Designed specifically for passengers in search of a longer and more relaxed trip, these experience-rich itineraries give guests the opportunity to really appreciate their chosen destination.

Discover the Rhine, Main & Danube – 23 days

Uncover the secrets of Europe’s historic heartland on a 23-day river cruise sailing from Amsterdam to Bucharest. The picturesque, cobbled streets and cafes of the Netherlands’ capital are the ideal stopping off point for this exquisite journey, which winds its way through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia and Romania before reaching Bulgaria.

History is laid out on the way, from Roman ruins and towering Baroque cathedrals, through to poignant remains from World War II. Prices start from £4,560 per person departing April to September 2023.

Discover French & Italian Coastlines – 15 days

This sun-kissed 15-day sailing starts in Dubrovnik. Guests are quickly into their Italian odyssey, exploring the full length of the country’s Mediterranean coast, with food and wine playing a major part in this luxury yacht cruise – from the waterfront seafood eateries of Otranto to the tasting tour of Bonifacio in Corsica.

On the way, don’t miss the chance to take in a leisurely lunch in one of Amalfi’s colourful pizzerias, or indulge in the famous gelato on offer in Sorrento. Prices lead in at £7,480 per person departing April and May 2023.

Discover the Red Sea, Holy Land, Turkey & Greece – 21 days

Board a luxury yacht in Aqaba before heading off on a true voyage of discovery. In Ain Sokhna there’s the chance to explore the Great Pyramids of Giza or enjoy a Nile felucca cruise, with two days each in Alexandria and Ashdod.

Enjoy a walking tour of Tel Aviv’s playfully colourful Jaffa district. Set in the foothills of Mount Carmel, Haifa’s Baha’i Gardens give time for spiritual reflection, while the twin bays of Bodrum open up another ancient wonder as the home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World: the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus.

Hop off here and guests can even learn how to cook up local treat after a visit to a local farmers market. For more Turkish delights, try an Istanbul city tour, complete with genuine baths experience. Prices start at £9,435 per person departing March 2023.
