Lusty Beg picks up Co Fermanagh wedding venue of the year at awards ceremony

Co Fermanagh wedding venue Lusty Beg Island Resort and Spa picked up the best in the county award at the recent Northern Ireland Wedding Awards.

The Kesh venue beat off competition from other local venues to claim the prize, with staff there on the night at the Europa Hotel in Belfast to pick up the award.

Wedding coordinator at Lusty Beg, Holly Sturgeon, said it was a great reward for staff at the venue after what had been a difficult few years for the wedding industry.

“We’re absolutely over the moon, obviously after coming out of a very difficult year for weddings in general and being in lockdown,” Holly told MyFermanagh.

“It’s great that our brides and grooms think so highly of us and all of our hard work paid off for everybody.

“It was them that nominated us for the award and then we had to give evidence ourselves about why we think we deserved to win.

“The judges themselves come and secretly visit the venue, so they take all that together and we’re delighted after all that they picked us as the winner.”

Holly added that it was a credit to the county that it has several top class wedding venues, but the beauty of the area around Lusty Beg helped make it stand out at the awards.

“There are obviously a lot of great venues across Fermanagh so to be selected above them is a great honour.

“We can talk as much as we want to talk but the island and the beauty of the area really speaks for itself.

“So I think the edge is just our location and the beauty of the area we are in.

“It has been difficult with Covid but we couldn’t thank our brides and grooms enough for sticking with us through it all.”
