Lurgan North Street: Cordon set up amid concerns for building

The police have set up a cordon amid concerns about a building in Lurgan.

It is understood the move is linked to the Irish National Foresters building on the town’s North Street.

The distinctive green building is currently undergoing a refurbishment programme.

A police spokesman said: “Police set up cordons in the imminent area of North Street area of Lurgan on Wednesday evening, 5th July, to ensure public safety following a building collapse.”

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said they are not in attendance at the scene. In a post on their Facebook page the Foresters in Lurgan said: “As I’m sure youse have all heard all the rumours but just to clear it up Inf is open as normal we had a slight set back on new build but our great team of workers are on the job getting things back on track.”
