Lune & Four Pillars Just Made The Croissant Gin Of Our Buttery Dreams

The collab I never knew I needed has just dropped, and it’s about to make your tipsy brunch dreams come true. Four Pillars Gin and LUNE Croissanterie have joined forces to create the Croissant Gin, a buttery, boozy masterpiece that’ll have you questioning everything you thought you knew about breakfast and happy hour.

Picture this: it’s a crisp morning, you’re nursing a hangover from last night’s shenanigans, and you’re faced with the age-old dilemma — hair of the dog or a greasy feed? Well, your prayers have been answered because now you can have both at once!

Kate Reid, the mastermind behind LUNE’s flaky empire, spilled the tea on this new creation: “I think it’s absolutely no secret that a LUNE croissant is truly a celebration of French butter. As such, it was compulsory that the gin would also hero the same French butter we use in our croissants.”

That’s right, folks. They’ve somehow managed to distill the essence of those buttery, layered pieces of heaven into a bottle of gin.

Sarah Prowse, Four Pillars’ Head Distiller (aka the wizard who helped put a croissant into a bottle), gave us the lowdown on how they managed to turn breakfast into booze: “We had never distilled butter before at Four Pillars, so it was a matter of trying to capture the delicious flavours and mouthfeel of butter while avoiding any burnt or bitter flavours from overcooking the butter in the still. Many distillations later, we found the flavour and textural elements that best aligned with the concept of an almond croissant.”

This collab is the kind of partnership that makes you wonder why no one thought of it sooner. Kate, clearly as excited as a kid in a candy store (or an adult in a bottleo), couldn’t contain her enthusiasm: “Infusing our LUNE magic into my favourite gin was a dream come true. I can honestly say I’ve never been thirsty for a croissant before but once you taste this gin, you’ll understand what I mean.”

The Croissant Gin is hitting the shelves from February 19th for a cool $80. You can grab a bottle from the Four Pillars website, Four Pillars Distillery, Four Pillars Lab as well as select Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores. But like all good things in life it won’t last long, so get in there quick.

In fact, to celebrate the launch, those who get in quick on Wednesday 19 February will even get a free sweet little treat with purchase. If you buy a bottle of Croissant Gin at these locations you can grab a LUNE voucher (limited amounts available):

  • Dan Murphy’s Newstead, QLD
  • Dan Murphy’s Malvern East, VIC
  • BWS Hawksburn, VIC
  • Dan Murphy’s Double Bay, NSW
  • BWS Potts Point, NSW

If you’re feeling like more of a feed, lucky ducks can win a free LUNE croissant with the first 50 bottles of
Croissant Gin purchased at Four Pillars Sydney Lab in Surry Hills. The same deal is also on Saturday, 22 February at the Four Pillars Distillery in Healesville.

And if you’re wondering whether or not a boozy croissant will ever bless our world, Kate said that there’s “every chance” and to “watch this space”! Consider me sat!

In the meantime she suggests pairing the gin with a traditional LUNE plain croissant, or you can try it in an Espresso Gin-tini (because why the hell not?).

Speaking of, here’s the recipe for an Espresso Gin-tini straight from Nick Tesar, Four Pillars Creative Director of Gin Drinks.

Big yummm. (Image: Supplied)

You’ll just need:

  • 40mL Croissant Gin
  • 10mL coffee liqueur
  • 10mL sugar syrup
  • 30mL cold brew coffee

Method: It’s easy as, all you have to do is shake all ingredients over ice and strain.

Glass: You can grab a Nick & Nora or a coupe for some fanciness.

Garnish: Serve the drink with a cacao powder dusting like a cappuccino, because you deserve all the frills, baby!

So get out there and get your drinks, because let’s be honest, after the year we’ve had (yes I’m aware it’s only February), we all deserve a drink. Cheers!
