Lundstram Rangers red card overturned as SFA appeal 'partially upheld'

Lundstram Rangers red card overturned as SFA appeal 'partially upheld'

JOHN LUNDSTRAM has had his Rangers red card against Hibs overturned after appeal.

The Ibrox midfielder was shown a straight red for a challenge on Martin Boyle.

Whistler Willie Collum was quick to produce a straight red for the challenge as Lundstram looked to prevent a counter-attack with a tactical foul.

However, he was shocked to be sent straight off for the tackle.

Rangers appealed the decision on "wrongful dismissal" grounds and the SFA have confirmed the red card has been rescinded. However, it has been replaced by a caution.

Lundstram had been penalised by Collum for serious foul play, but the fast-track tribunal have lowered the punishment to a yellow card with Lundstram judged to have 'recklessly tripped or attempts to trip an opponent'.

The midfielder is now free to feature for Rangers against Ross County with his suspension cleared after the successful appeal.
