Luncarty defeat Hawick but boss Robbie Holden admits "a few weren't at the races"

Luncarty’s quick start gave Hawick neigh chance of leaving Brownlands Park with victory.

But Bleachers boss Robbie Holden still thinks his side, many who indulged in a day at Perth Racecourse midweek, failed to hit top form.

Kevin Sinclair and Dan Walker netted first half goals to secure the 2-0 Conference B win on home soil.

“It felt like an end of season game,” Holden admitted to the PA.

“It was a warm day and we were not as sharp as Wednesday night and wasted a lot of chances in the first half.

“It was three points and a clean sheet so that is what we will take away from it.

“But we should be scoring more. I think a few players weren’t at the races - or, in this case, they were last week!”

Luncarty, who have two league games remaining, sit fifth in the Conference B - two points behind local rivals Kinnoull.

Holden added: “We are over the line in terms of securing our place in the new first division next year, which was the objective when the title was out of reach.

“But two wins is the target to finish the season.”
