There are plenty of Christmas activities in Wales to enjoy, you can read our bumper guide here, and light shows and trails are one magical way to enjoy the festive season. Luminate is bringing its glittering light trail to two different locations in Wales.
You will be able to enjoy the festive lights at Margam Park in Port Talbot and the National Botanic Garden of Wales in Carmarthenshire. Both events are ticketed and are sure to delight and bring the magic of Christmas to life.

Where are the Luminate light trails?
The Luminate light trails will take place in two locations in Wales at Margam Park in Port Talbot (full address: Margam Park, Port Talbot, SA13 2TJ), and the National Botanic Garden of Wales (full address: National Botanic Garden of Wales, Middleton Hall, Llanarthne, SA32 8HN).
When are the Luminate light trails running?
The Margam Park Luminate light trail is running from Thursday, November 17, to Monday, January 2, 2023. The National Botanic Garden of Wales Luminate light trail will run from Thursday, December 1, to Monday, January 2, 2023.
How much are the Luminate light trails?
The Margam Park light trail costs £15 for adults, £11 for children, and £48 for families, Monday to Wednesday, until Wednesday, November 30. Tickets for Thursday to Sunday will cost £19.50 for adults, £14.50 for children, and £62 for families and then these prices will be in place Monday to Wednesday from Monday, December 5. Carers can visit for free but must still book tickets.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales light trail costs £15 for adults, £11 for children, and £48 for families until Wednesday, December 14. Tickets for Thursday to Sunday will cost £19.50 for adults, £14.50 for children, and £62 for families and then these prices will be in place Monday to Wednesday from Monday, December 19. Carers also go free but must, once again, book tickets.
How accessible are the Luminate light trails?
The Luminate light trails are very accessible for all those taking part. Dogs are not allowed on the trails, other than guide dogs and assistance dogs. There is parking at both events and for Margam Park parking will be past the entrance kiosk in the Orangery Car Park, or on the grass and trackway car park in front of the entrance kiosk. Parking is free.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales trail is based on the permanent pathways located around the site. The Margam Park trail has steep sections which are over hard-standing paths and there will be stewards located at these points and along the trail to help.
There are accessible toilets at both locations and at the National Botanic Garden of Wales there are two mobility scooters which can be hired out for the trail. At both venues, Luminate is also running sensory-friendly sessions for those who have specific sensory needs and these sessions are running on Monday, November 28, and Tuesday, December 6, at Margam Park, and Tuesday, December 6, and Tuesday, December 13, at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
