Luke Williams leaves post as Swansea City assistant due to personal reasons

Luke Williams has left his post as assistant head coach at Swansea City.

The move, which has been made due to personal reasons, brings an end to a short stint in south Wales, with Williams arriving alongside boss Russell Martin back in August.

The 41-year-old wasn't in attendance for the win over Bristol City last weekend, and rumours over a possible departure have rumbled on ever since.

And the club have now confirmed his departure on the eve of their trip to Sheffield United on Saturday.

In a short statement, the club said: "Swansea City can confirm that assistant head coach Luke Williams has left the club.

"Williams arrived as part of Russell Martin’s backroom team following his appointment as head coach last August, but now departs the club due to personal reasons.

"Everyone at Swansea City would like to wish Luke all the best for the future and thank him for his hard work while at the club."

It's not yet clear if the club have a long-term replacement lined up for the role, but Matt Gill is set to step into the role during the interim.
