Luke Shaw Slammed by Fans for TikTok Video with Molly-Mae

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has come under fire from fans after appearing in a TikTok video during a New Year’s Eve party with Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague.

Shaw, who is currently sidelined due to injury, has been criticised for his part in the video, where he was seen mouthing the phrase “Your mum’s on benefits” as part of a viral trend.

The backlash from fans highlights growing frustration with the team’s poor Premier League form, as Manchester United sit 14th in the table following four consecutive defeats.

Fan Reactions to Luke Shaw’s TikTok Video

Shaw’s New Year’s Eve appearance sparked heated reactions on social media, with some fans labelling the video “embarrassing” given the club’s current struggles.

Other fans, however, defended Shaw, citing the importance of players having a personal life outside football:

Luke Shaw’s Injury Woes and Emotional Statement

Shaw, now 29, had a challenging 2024, playing just 68 minutes of Premier League football due to ongoing injury struggles. Last month, he shared an emotional update on social media after experiencing a setback in his recovery.

“I’m absolutely devastated,” Shaw wrote. “It’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time… But what I can promise is I will do everything I can to come back better soon to help this club achieve its ambitions this season.”

Shaw’s injuries have limited him to only eight appearances for Manchester United last year, with fans growing increasingly frustrated at his absence.

The criticism of Shaw comes as United face one of their worst periods in recent history. The Red Devils are winless in their last four matches and sit just seven points above the relegation zone.

With a crucial match against Premier League leaders Liverpool looming, the team and manager, Ruben Amorim, are under intense scrutiny.
