Luke Shaw has conceded people will call him 'stupid' for stating that Manchester United are capable of winning the Champions League this season.
The Red Devils will soon take on Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16, though are not being fancied to progress far in the competition due to their continued unpredictable nature as a team.
Manchester City are the current favourites to lift the European Cup (9/4), with Bayern Munich (7/2) and Liverpool (5/1) considered next in line to taste success.

Way down on the list are United (18/1), who are already out of the Premier League title race as well as the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Despite this, Shaw sees no reason why the Red Devils cannot rival the Reds for the Champions League this season.
"This is the crunch time of the season and it is very important in the league to get some momentum. As a team we believe we can win the Champions League," he said.
“Not many people on the outside will think it and some will think I’m stupid for saying that. But we have that belief and confidence that we can win it.
“I’m sure everyone in this dressing room – the players the staff and the management – all have that belief that we can. Now we need to pick some momentum up, get results and keep playing well.”
The 2017 Europa League was the last piece of silverware won by United, who are also on the verge of extending their wait for the top-flight title to a decade.
Shaw had hopes of claiming a treble under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last January, though was left red-faced by his comments made in January 2021 as they ended the campaign empty-handed.
"We're second and we feel we've got the belief and confidence that, if we can get a good run going again, then we can be fighting for the title at the end of the season," he said last term.
“We're still in the FA Cup and Europa League. We want to be winning titles and trophies and feel we have a massive chance to win all three.
“Ever since I've been an United there've been unbelievable players.
"Now we have a great group of players, but I think we've also got a massive belief that we're going places and improving as a team and we feel like we can win things."
