Celtic midfielder Luke McCowan was relieved that he didn’t make a big thing of scoring against his former club Dundee on Tuesday night.
The 27-year-old netted just five minutes into his much-talked-about Dens Park return. But he wouldn’t go on to make it a winning one at his old stomping ground.
McCowan, who left Dundee for Celtic during Deadline Day last summer, opted to keep his goal celebration tame as he got the scoring up and running.
Celtic were ahead twice but ended up having to come from behind to clinch a 3-3 draw in second half stoppage time, courtesy of Arne Engels’ penalty.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the full-time whistle, McCowan said: “It probably wasn’t the result that we were looking for as a team.
“Obviously it’s good to get the goal to kick us off but I think initially in the first 40 minutes, we should’ve tried to kill the game and put it out of sight. I thought that we were a wee bit too passive at times and gave Dundee a bit of oxygen.
“So, aye, it’s just one of those night's. We are an honest group of players and we know how you start the game, you need to keep the foot on the gas and go from there. We never did that, other night's we usually do and it's not typical us."

On heading in the opener from Greg Taylor's excellent delivery then refusing to celebrate in front of the Dundee supporters, McCowan stated: "Nah, you can't. I was here three or four years, they treated me really well and I enjoyed my time here.
"It was the first place me and my fiancé move away from home to, so it's always going to have a wee special bit in my heart.
"I couldn't run away celebrating, and I'm glad I never now after the result."
