Luke Littler vs Nathan Aspinall Result: 'The Nuke' Wins 5-2

Teenage darting sensation Luke Littler continued his impressive run at the World Darts Championship with a 5-2 rout of Nathan Aspinall in the quarter-final.

The 17-year-old set up a mouthwatering semi-final clash with Stephen Bunting as he aims to go one better on his runner-up finish to Luke Humphries in 2024.

As per the best UK betting sites, Littler is the 4/6 favourite to win his first world title. If successful against Bunting, he’ll face either Chris Dobey or Michael van Gerwen in the final.

The three-time major champion posted another ton-plus average of 101.54 with 15 maximums and a checkout accuracy of 45%, hitting 19 of 42 attempts on the outer ring.

Littler and Bunting have met twice before, both on the floor in the Players Championship – and both games went to a last leg decider with one win each.

Littler ranks ninth in all-time World Championship games with a ton-plus average

Littler has played just 11 games at Alexandra Palace and in eight of those, he’s recorded an average of 100 or more.

The youngster already ranks ninth in the all-time standings for that category – and two more could see him go level with Rob Cross in eighth.

It’s wild to think that a teenager has normalised such numbers in just his second tournament appearance and when it’s all said and done, he could bypass Phil Taylor as the greatest we’ve ever seen.

After beating ‘The Nuke’ in the final last year, Humphries said he knew he had to win that one because the rest were probably Littler’s – a fair assessment.

We can only expect Littler to keep improving as he gets older, and he could be even more unstoppable in the future with a world title under his belt.

Odds of 4/6 for him to win the tournament look more than fair and 4/1 to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 2025 is also enticing.
