Hollywood star Luke Evans has always been proud of his Welsh roots, telling WalesOnline last December 'I've really fought for people to know that I am a Welsh actor', and he has now moved fans to tears with his rendition of You Raise Me Up for St David's Day. Posting a clip of the video to his Instagram many fans commented on how touching the performance was from the Rhymney Valley actor who's been in The Pembrokeshire Murders and Nine Perfect Strangers.
Filmed on the Vale of Glamorgan coastline, the video shows Luke putting his heart and soul into the performance which features the Treorchy Male Choir, who he recorded with on his latest album, A Song For You.
He captioned the post: "In celebration of St David's Day this coming Wednesday I had the opportunity to head home to Wales for this special performance of You Raise Me Up".

Many fans said how moving and emotional they found the video. One said: "Oh. My. Brought me to tears. You are amazing" while another added: "What an emotional performance. You put your heart in it, your Welsh pride. Bravo Lukie." followed by two red love heart emojis.
A third said: "Made me cry...you are fab makes me proud to be Welsh xxxxxx" and: "A beautiful song fit for someone like you to sing. The scenery is breathtaking and suits this song tremendously. Nothing could be prouder to see you back home singing this is AMAZING" followed by a Welsh flag emoji and red love heart emojis.
A fifth said: "Can just see the passion and emotion in your face when you sing Luke, just beautiful" followed by a red love heart and music emojis. Speaking to WalesOnline about his Welsh roots, Luke said: "I've really fought for people to know that I am a Welsh actor, I'm a British actor - but I am Welsh and I'm very proud of that. We're a small country but we've managed to get ourselves on the world stage of sport, culture, music, fashion, culinary talent, poetry - we've done so well. And I'm just proud to be part of that."
