Lukasz Fabianski, Vladimir Coufal, Michail Antonio - West Ham injuries ahead of AEK Larnaca tie

West Ham United will be looking to seal a place in the Europa Conference League’s quarter-finals on Thursday night against Cypriot side AEK Larnaca.

The Hammers play host to the Guardians at the London Stadium on Thursday in the second leg of their round of 16 tie, taking a 2-0 first leg advantage into the game.

Ahead of the meeting with Larnaca, here is a look at West Ham’s current list of injury concerns.

Vladimir Coufal (heel)

Right-back Vladimir Coufal has missed the last four matches due to a heel injury, which forced him off during last month’s 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Coufal had been nursing the issue going into the win over the Tricky Trees, but the severity of it forced him off at half-time and has since seen him miss trips to Manchester United, Brighton and Hove Albion and AEK Larnaca, as well as the 1-1 home draw with Aston Villa on Sunday.

Speaking after the draw with Villa, Moyes said that Coufal is improving but the second leg against Larnaca may come too soon for him.

“Vladmir Coufal has got plantar fascia, I don’t know if he is going to be back in the week but he is improving,” Moyes told football.london. “He is a boy who really wants to play.

“He's desperate to get out and show what he can do but he's got a foot injury. I don't think he'll be back this week, Vlad, maybe could be back after the international break.”

Lukasz Fabianski (cheek/eye)

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is set to return to action next month after fracturing his cheekbone and eye-socket against Forest.

Fabianski was forced off midway through the second half after being caught by the knee of Forest defender Felipe after the Polish stopper innocuously went for the ball.

Speaking on it ahead of the defeat to Brighton, Moyes confirmed that the goalkeeper has had an eye operation which will keep him out of action until after this month’s international break.

“My belief is he had an operation this week,” said Moyes. “He had a plate inserted in his eye I believe. I think he had it on Thursday. We think it would be after the international break before he would be available again.”

Fabianski was however pictured by West Ham’s club website in training on Friday. However, the pictures did show him wearing a protective mask.

Michail Antonio (calf)

Striker Michail Antonio missed the heavy defeat at Brighton following a hamstring issue sustained during the FA Cup loss to United, but was back in the squad in Cyprus.

The 32-year-old scored both goals in his first brace since August 2021 but came off on the hour mark with concerns over a calf issue, which saw him miss the draw against Villa.

Speaking on Antonio after the 1-1 draw, Moyes said that the Jamaican international failed a fitness test on Sunday morning and that they are yet to know when a return is likely.

“Antonio got a kick in the calf and we’re not quite sure,” Moyes told football.london. “We tested him this morning and he wasn’t quite right so we didn’t take the risk with it.”
