Luka Modric's full-time exchange with Mason Mount as Chelsea star hits back at Toni Kroos

A full-time exchange between Mason Mount and Luke Modric has been revealed after Chelsea ’s defeat of Real Madrid in their Champions League semi-final.

Mount played a starring role to help the Blues to reach their first final in the competition since 2012, scoring his side’s second goal of the second leg.

The midfielder finished well from Christian Pulisic ’s pullback as the game entered the final five minutes to seal a date with Manchester City in Istanbul.

Mount has emerged as one of Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel’s key players and was once again handed a start at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

It was another impressive display from the 22-year-old, who was lining up against the world-class duo of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in midfield.

But despite the calibre of the opposition, Mount helped the Blues to dominate and earned himself a special moment with Modric in the process.

Football.London have previously reported that that Mount would study videos of the Croatian when he was growing up.

So the Englishman must have been delighted when Modric approached him after the game to deliver a message to him.

“Mason Mount. Good luck in the final,” BT Sport’s: Listen In: Chelsea vs Real Madrid’ video showed Modric saying as the pair embraced.

Mount was clearly very appreciative of Modric’s message.

“Thank you, thank you,” the Englishman replied.

While Mount shared a special moment with Modric, he had fewer kind words for the Croatian’s midfield partner Kroos.

Leading up to the second leg, the German had played down the threat of Chelsea’s players.

“In my 15 years playing football, I never lost sleep,” Kroos said.

But after Chelsea’s deserved win, goalscorer Mount hit back at Kroos comments in his post-match interviews.

“I saw one of their players say before that he doesn't lose sleep over individuals,” Mount told CBS Sports.

“But as a team, they need to lose sleep over us as a team. We give so much, we defend for our lives. You saw that in not many chances that we gave away. We are solid and we need to keep that going.”
