Luka Doncic's Home Burglarized For $30K In Jewelry

In an increasingly scary trend, Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is the latest athlete to have his or a family member’s home burglarized.

On the night of Dec. 27, the Dallas Police Department officers responded to Doncic’s home at approximately 10:30 p.m. for a burglary call. They determined that “unknown suspects entered the property and took items.” The Dallas Morning News reported that jewelry worth approximately $30,000 was stolen from the property.

The Mavericks were on the road for a game against the Phoenix Suns Friday night, winning 98-89.

Doncic’s business manager Lara Beth Seager released a statement:

“No one was home at the time, and thankfully Luka and his family are safe. Luka has filed a police report, and an investigation is ongoing.”

Doncic Joins Unfortunate List

Jaylen Brown’s mother’s home was broken into just a couple weeks ago while the Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis and Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Mike Conley have also experienced burglaries within the past three months. NFL stars Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Joe Burrow have all suffered a similar fate in recent times.

The NBA confirmed the FBI connected some burglaries to “transnational South American Theft Groups” that are “reportedly well organized, sophisticated rings that incorporate advanced techniques and technologies, including pre-surveillance, drones and signal jamming devices.”

Both the NFL and NBA have previously issued security alerts recommending players take additional precautions to secure their homes.

Literal Insult To Injury

Dallas confirmed just a couple days ago that Doncic will miss at least a month due to a strained left calf suffered on Christmas Day against Minnesota.

With the time Doncic is set to be out, he will have missed too many games to be in the running for end-of-season awards, such as MVP and All-NBA teams. He’s having a strong year, averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 2.0 steals, though these are the fewest points he’s averaged since 2020-21.

Doncic’s home being burglarized is the last thing he needed right now.
