Luis Suarez's strange gesture prior to Atletico Madrid's defeat to Man City

Former Liverpool forward Luis Suarez was filmed purposely stepping around the Manchester City logo prior to Atletico Madrid's defeat.

The Uruguayan - who didn't feature at all in the Champions League first-leg - was making his way from the visiting dressing room prior to Tuesday's clash and had to stop himself from stepping on the trademark Blues symbol imprinted on the floor in the Etihad tunnel. And the competition's social media channels were quick to pick up on the gesture, captioning posts: "Luis Suarez. Respect."

Diego Simeone's side frustrated City in the first half and for most of the second period until substitute Phil Foden unlocked the Spanish champions' rearguard, sliding Kevin de Bruyne who fired beyond Jan Oblak. The Premier League leaders take a deserved lead to the Wanda Metropolitano for next week's return leg but it won't be short of needle after Jack Grealish was embroiled in a number of flashpoints late on.

His Atletico teammate Antoine Griezmann provided a viral hit for a different gesture as he flaunted his way out to their training session on the eve of the clash. This prompted a number of fans to take to Twitter and repeatedly publish the video.

Some supporters echoed the Champions League accounts respect sentiment replying "respect" or emojis of that ilk. For Pep Guardiola, he will be hoping they can at least maintain their lead in the return leg but their attention quickly turns to the top-of-the-table clash against Liverpool.
