Luis Suarez reveals what he told Darwin Nunez after red card for Liverpool

Luis Suarez has admitted he contacted Darwin Nunez after his red card for Liverpool in Monday night's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Anfield. Nunez headbutted Palace defender Joachim Andersen in the early stages of the second half after growing frustrated at the treatment he'd been given.

Former Liverpool striker Suarez is someone who is familiar with how things play out in English football - and the striker offered some advice to international team-mate Nunez after his red card.

The 23-year-old will miss Liverpool's next three matches in the Premier League - including Monday's clash with fierce rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

In an interview with Telemundo, Suarez spoke his conversation with Nunez: "It's nothing serious, we've all made a mistake. The problem is that he’s only just arrived over there and in England, to put it lightly, they make a big deal out of everything.

"With what happened to him the other day I was talking to him. Don’t give them any more chances, it’ll only get worse. Because he is just starting out and to make him aware that from now on [opponents] will be seeking him out twice or three times more often.

"Even more so in England - he’s hearing this from an idiot who make mistakes and suffered for them, but falling down and getting up again made me stronger."

The former Barcelona and Atletico Madrid striker believes Nunez will 'turn this situation around' once his three-match ban is over.

Suarez added: “Darwin is someone who listens a lot. He is very smart that way and I think he will try to turn this situation around, it’s not a big deal, we have all made mistakes, we have all been sent off."
