Luis Suarez and Micah Richards agree on Benfica striker Darwin Nunez amid Arsenal transfer talk

Arsenal are on the lookout for a top-class striker this summer. The Gunners allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave during the January transfer window whilst Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are both into the final four months of their respective deals with the club. football.london understands that the north London outfit are tracking Benfica frontman Darwin Nunez ahead of a potential summer move.

The Uruguayan international has netted 26 times in just 33 outings this term, showcasing his potential to become a world-class centre-forward, impressing fans and pundits alike. Manchester City hero Micah Richards has made no secret of his admiration for the 22-year-old, urging Liverpool to be wary of him when they face off in the UEFA Champions League next month.

"Darwin Nunez has caught my eye all year and he came up trumps for Benfica once again, to send them into the last-eight", Richards told the Mail earlier this month. "Nunez scored his 26th goal of the season and is only 22.

"He is tall, strong, he runs in behind and knows how to finish. He's scored against Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Ajax so far — don't discount him doing the same against Liverpool."

Similarly, Atletico Madrid frontman Luis Suarez has previously revealed that he told former club Barcelona to try and sign his compatriot, admitting that he saw the youngster's sky-high potential early on.

Speaking to Gerard Romero on Twitch in November 2021, he said: "I said to [Barcelona]: 'Keep an eye on him'. He is very good and shows interesting approaches. They said he plays for Almeria and is too young. I have 15 years of international experience, I know a thing or two about attackers."
