Rangers have reportedly stolen a march on their transfer rivals for Luis Palma - by launching talks with the Honduran winger.
Michael Beale is looking for a full scale revamp this summer having already confirmed Alfredo Morelos' exit while Ryan Kent appears set to follow him out the door. Ryan Jack is expected to sign a new deal but Antonio Colak could be sold and that would leave Rangers short of options in the final third.
Palma has long been on the agenda with reports suggesting as many as ten clubs want to sign him from Aris Thessaloniki. The Ibrox side appear to be jostling for position at the front of the queue and it's now claimed they have made the first move. The Scottish Sun say Gers are "locked in talks" over the 23-year-old who is rated at £4.4million after netting 13 goals and ten assists in an impressive debut season in Europe.
Palma's agent Paolo Hernandez previously said the Honduras international wanted to "take a step forward" this summer to a "more competitive league and a more competitive team". He told La Prensa: "What's obvious is that people are asking, teams' scouting systems are putting out significant numbers and statistics. So there is interest in his work, in his game and in his performance on the field.
"The European market will open up and the normal thing is that if he stays healthy for the rest of the games, with two more to go, what we all hope is that Luis will be in the transfer market this summer.
"He is grateful to Aris and the president for being the person who invested in him. It is not easy to take the risk of betting on a player who comes from a small team in Honduras and put him directly in a club like ArIs, who play in Europe, who have 25,000 people every game, with a lot of fans behind him.
"We are not taking for granted the chairman, the fans and the club. But the footballer's dream and mine as the player's agent, is to take a leap forward and go to a more competitive league and a more competitive team."
