Benfica striker Luis Lopes is on the brink of joining Aberdeen as Jim Goodwin's latest signing.
It's understood the Pittodrie side have agreed terms on a deal with the player who is now agreeing the final details of his move to the Scottish Premiership side. Lopes, also known as Duk in his homeland, has been part of their B-team for the last two years and has been at the club for half a decade.
The 22-year-old had a deal with Benfica until 2025 but they are prepared to part ways and the Dons see him as an ideal target to fill their centre-forward void and challenge Christian Ramirez for first-team places. Previously capped by Portugal at youth level, he scored twice for their Under-19s before switching allegiances to Cape Verde where he is now a senior international.
Pittodrie boss Goodwin has been looking to strengthen his frontline options. He has already agreed a deal to sign Bojan Miovski but is still waiting for the North Macedonia cap to be given his work visa for the United Kingdom
Rivals Hibs recently signed his former Benfica teammate Jair Tavares on a four-year-contract. Goodwin is still looking to add another two or three to his squad and will be boosted financially by Lewis Ferguson’s pending £3 million sale to Bologna.
